Have you ever experienced hosting a party in the past? If you have, then you are all too aware of how stressful it could be, with all the energy and production involved. If you would be hosting a party for the first time, you will make things a lot easier by making a party planning checklist. This will assist in keeping you on track and assures that all of the necessary details are taken care of.
Your budget for the party is probably the most important item on your checklist. By setting a definite budget, you will have a more precise idea of how many people you are capable of accommodating comfortably, which then brings us to the second item on your checklist, i.e., the guest list. Begin by creating a master list that includes the people you want to invite. Write down first your priority guests. If you are done writing and you believe that your budget can hold everyone you have included on the list, then good for you! Otherwise, you need to cut down the number of your guests a bit. Keep in mind though that it is very seldom that you will find a party where everyone who was invited indeed showed up.
The next in your party planning checklist are the invitations. You can either buy the invitation or design your own. Choosing the latter means consuming a lot more time so if you really do not want to buy the ready-made ones, ask a friend or two to help you with the designing part. After you have printed out the invitations, you still need to address them and have them sent. This could get pretty time-consuming so try to have it done ahead of time. Set a deadline for mailing the invitations and stick to it. They must be sent at least three weeks before the day of the actual event. Give them a maximum of two weeks to RSVP. Once you have an idea of how many guests will be attending, you will also know what best to do regarding the food and drinks. You could pay for catering services if you have a lot of guests or cook the food yourself if it is not that big a party.
Location of the party comes next. Depending on your budget and number of guests, you can choose to have it in your own home or rent a much larger hall. You could choose to hold it at a resort, park, or some other venue.
Finally, you are to include on your party planning checklist a summary of the things you still need to buy such as utensils, decorations, etc., orders you have to finalize, individuals to call and confirm for attendance, and other services you may have to pay for such as a live band. Regardless of how grand the party you are planning is, a checklist will really help you out.
